Description
A beautiful Edwardian Era celestial jewel by early Australian jewellers Webster & Cohen circa 1907-1910.
Made in 9ct gold throughout, the necklace features a clear and sparkling aquamarine drop in a coronet setting, suspended from a delicate crescent moon studded with seed pearls. At the apex of the crescent another blue stone is set – this time a pale blue paste that matches the colour of the natural aquamarine perfectly.
The attached original trace link chain measures 37cm / 14.5″ terminating in the original barrel clasp. This is a very short length, the necklace was designed to sit very high between the clavicles as was fashionable at the time.
The natural aquamarine measures 7.25mm in diameter, the paste has a 5.4mm diameter.
The necklace has a total drop of 38mm, the maximum width of the moon is 20mm. The necklace weighs 4 grams.
