Courage & Grace : Antique Bloodstone Signet Ring in 9ct Gold with Scrolled Shoulders

Sold

A timeless and unisex antique bloodstone ring – I admit I have not been able to pinpoint an era for this marvellous ring! The construction and styling dictates that it was definitely made over 100 years ago, but whether that was 1840 or 1910 or anywhere in between I could not say. The styling is Classical with scrolled shoulders suggestive of Ancient Roman columns – a motif that has enduring popularity.

Manufacture:
The large bloodstone ring is so deeply green it could be mistaken for onyx, with only a small smattering of jasper spots. The oval surface is perfectly smooth with no chips or scratches. It measures 11.26mm x 13.55mm.

The face of the ring is 12.84mm x 14.66mm. The shoulders are 8.2mm wide, tapering at the back of the band to 2.52mm. The band is 1.5mm thick at its thinnest point, 2.21mm thick at the shoulders. Sits 2.93mm high on the finger. A ring with presence.

The antique patina lends this ring the golden hue of buttery 22ct gold, but has been verified by xrf test as 9ct. There are no hallmarks present. Weighs 4.4 grams.

Size Q or 8.25

Condition:
In outstanding antique condition with wear commensurate with age and gentle wear. Ready for immediate and everyday wear.
