Candy Stripes : Victorian Green Stone Navette with Seed Pearls

Who can resist a good pop of colour, especially an arresting candy stripe of white and green like this one 💚?

This elegant navette dates to the late Victorian or early Edwardian Era, circa 1890 – 1910. The elongated shape is very flattering on the hand, lengthening the fingers.

The navette shape is set with three rows of stone set obliquely across the face of the ring in stripes of white and green – the white made up of 10 beautiful natural pearls in fantastic condition and all original, the green a row of emerald green paste stones with one replacement Gilson emerald.

The shoulders of this ring are set with delightful little golden rosettes, reaching up to meet the filigree gallery which allows light to reach the back of the green stones so that they glow, while keeping the profile low and comfortable.

If only this little love could talk I know she would have a story to tell! While the band of the ring is hallmarked 9ct, her bright little face XRF tests as 15ct. What was the story behind this little mish-mash? A mistake at the jewellers or an accident met along the way (I’m leaning to the former) we will never know!

A bright and happy ring, professionally polished and ready for immediate and everyday wear – although please do be careful with the pearls as they won’t enjoy being wet. They have lasted such a very long time in beautiful condition, it would be a real shame to spoil them now.

You can see a video of this ring in action on my Instagram account @secret_histories, or online here.

The face of the ring measures 20.6mm x 7.2mm
weighs 2.3 grams
