Blue Rose : Vintage Bombé Ring with Blue Sapphire and Single Cut Diamonds

♥Sold♥

A glorious sparkler of a ring with a big presence on the hand. Bombé is a French term that translates literally in English as “bomb” – accurately describing the shape and effect of this powerful style of statement ring. Bombé rings have a domed shape and are often set with a multitude of gemstones. The bombé ring was first popularised in the Edwardian Era and has been fashionable ever since. This handmade example in 14ct white gold is circa 1930s.

The white gold dome is hand pierced for a filigree effect, popular in white gold during the Art Deco period (and in platinum during the Edwardian Era). The surface of the ring is covered in floral details – four golden flowers with their stems and leaves radiate from the central 1 carat deep blue Australian sapphire. Single cut diamonds are scattered all over the dome which catch the light and sparkle magnificently, like a tiny disco ball.
