Blue Lagoon : Contemporary Australian Crystal Opal Ring in 18ct Yellow Gold

Sold

A vibrant pear shaped solid crystal opal cabochon is inlaid into a rich 18ct gold setting, with textured surround. It reminds me of a tropical island, with a large ocean lagoon in its centre. The opal is a generous slice of crystal opal with a deep blue body colour that shows ripples of teal and sparks of pink in the sunlight. It is in a closed back setting to enhance the colour of the opal.

Manufacture:
The face of the ring is asymmetrical, measuring 13.23mm x 9.14mm. The pear shaped opal measures 9.9mm x 6.5mm. The ring sits 3mm high on the finger – an easy to wear low profile. It weighs 2.9 grams.

The band is 1.8mm wide and 1.4mm thick at the shoulders, tapering to 0.9mm thick at the back of the band for a comfort fit.

The ring has small Chinese hallmarks to the inside, as well as the Au750 hallmark which has been verified by xrf test.

Size N 1/2 or 7
resizable by a jeweller experienced in working with opals.

Condition:
It is in excellent as-new condition, ready for immediate wear.

*please note: opals are soft gemstones and need to be treated with care. You should avoid temperature extremes where possible, including plunging the stone into hot water (ie: washing your hands).
