Antique Chic : Art Deco Banded Agate Orb Earrings on Long Chains

♥Sold♥

Like many pieces of striking dark-toned jewels from the Art Deco Era these earrings look absolutely contemporary. Simple, elegant, stunning, timeless, chic and a little edgy – they are all these things as well as being really fun to wear.

It’s all about those stripy balls – a well matched pair of oversized agate beads hang from deliciously long and slinky chains suspended from 9ct yellow gold hooks. They have a very pleasing weight – not too heavy at all. They swing marvellously.

I found these earrings with their original screw-back fittings, which I had replaced with vintage 9ct gold hooks. The hooks are an unusual shape, but I can attest that they are perfectly proportioned to hold the substantial agate beads comfortably without fear of them falling out – no matter how vigorously you shake your head or how many times you bend over to pick something up off the floor (all those working mums in isolation with their kids at home will feel me on this).

There are some tiny chips to the base of both beads around the drilled hole, and one of the beads has a small blemish to the underside. None of these are visible when worn and are to be expected in items of vintage and antique jewellery. Please see last enlarged photograph.

The agates have a diameter of 14.2mm
The earrings have a drop of 55mm.
They weigh 8.6 grams (pair)

They are in beautiful antique condition, ready for immediate wear.
