Androgynous : Vintage Teal Tourmaline Tank Ring

♥Sold♥

A one of a kind showstopper of a ring, this chunky tank feels sexy and powerful to wear. Undoubtedly someone’s dream ring, handmade with love and fabulous attention to detail. Sold to me as a ‘Mans ring’, the instant I slipped it on my finger I had to disagree. This ring is truly androgynous – having characteristics that are both masculine and feminine. It will be equally at home on your hand no matter how you identify. A tricky one to date, but I estimate this tank to be circa 1970s.

The centrepiece is a 1.84 carat teal tourmaline surrounded by a halo of fine white brilliant cut diamonds. The hefty gold setting is deeply ribbed. A secret decorative hand cut panel sits behind the tourmaline, making it extra comfy to wear. There are no hallmarks to give us clues to its age or origin, and confoundingly it XRF tests as approximately 12ct gold. Being made of a non-standard gold fineness suggests that this piece was made from several recycled gold pieces. It may well be someone’s family history co-mingled into one incredible statement ring.

Manufacture:
Made in solid 12ct yellow gold, unmarked but XRF test indicates approximately 12ct gold.

The rectangular cut teal tourmaline measures 9.80mm x 6.30mm x 3.70mm – approximately 1.84 carats.
The eighteen 1.6mm diameter round brilliant cut diamonds are all a fine white in colour, assessed while set as G-H in colour, but with a mixture of clarity from Si – P2. The combined carat weight of the diamonds is 0.29 carats.

The face of the ring measures 12.7mm x 16.25mm, sits 4.8mm high on the finger.
Weighs 11.91 grams

Size O1/2 or 7.5 on the mandrel, but may fit smaller due to the width.
It’s a dream to wear on my size M or 6.25 finger, but I do like my rings a little loose. I believe it will comfortably fit sizes M through O, or 6.25 to 7.25.
Somewhat resizable by your local bench jeweller, or please contact us for a quote.

Comes with an independent valuation for $5855 Australian Dollars.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. I have had the ring professionally cleaned and all setting checked and tightened. Ready for immediate and everyday wear. You lucky devil!
