Ahoy There : Petite Victorian 15ct Gold Earrings circa 1880

I may be being fanciful, but these remind me of ships wheels. The glorious old ones you find on the wooden masted sailing ships of old. Perhaps these tiny golden wheels will steer you into good fortune.

Made of 15ct gold, these rare survivors have hallmarks to the reverse for Birmingham 188? The date letter is well rubbed but looks to be either a lower case k or an h in gothic lettering:  both of which date to the mid 1880’s.

Sections of the design have been buffed to a high polish while others are matt in appearance. The effect adds depth and interest to the geometric design. They are in lovely condition with no faults to note.

The earrings are hollow, making them very light, but durable. The short ear wires hug the golden wheels in place onto your lobes – their appearance when worn is very much like studs. They are extremely comfortable and will not come off accidentally.

Each earring measures 11.5mm in diameter and are 3mm deep.
The earrings have a combined weight of 0.7 grams – just a whisper.
